“Tiger moon” is inspired by this year’s name. I somehow couldn’t bypass it. First, I wanted to play with the moon and vegetation coming all the way to her. It is interesting to observe that something (or someone) is even more present when partially hidden. I wanted a lot of bush, plants, leaves but again not too illustrated to contrast well with two elements in the format: The moon and the story. Here, what is going on is the oldest story in the world: it is a prey and predator scene. What is more ancient than that? The greens and moon represent today as well as the oldest times. Now, what I write after the painting is done is quite rational, even sometimes cerebral but these are things I realise afterwards. My inspiration is from observation, I observe while I paint and then I observe what I painted. It is quite something to realize how much it is about observation. it makes sense though: observation takes time, dedication, silence.
In the painting “Tiger moon” we have three elements: moon, setting ( landscape), anecdote or story. The story here is very illustrated. I wanted to see what it would look like. The story can also remain simple: with a purple cloud. But other time the story is abstract: it is the dripping or the title even. odd numbers create more harmony in Art.
I will keep in my painter’s mind how classical and well working esthetically it is to have a luxuriant setting, a quiet scene with the moon in an intense sky and…death.

Again, this is a long format. It fits awesomely in a lobby, entrance of home with high ceiling, top of the stairs upstairs, office lobby. Prints will be available eventually when I re shoot this painting as the blue of the sky wasn’t right. It is a blue from Marrakech, Morocco mind you. Offered to me by my brother and Sophie. These moons are a celebration of the power of color as well by the way.
