Hara #2 with the fantastic Julian Watson is inspired by Vaslav Nijinsky's interpretation of The Afternoon of a Faun. Since I focused on the essence of the person and am so admirative of Nijinsky, it became an evidence to celebrate his movements. I wanted to immerse Julian in blue, in an timeless & dream-like moment.
My series entitled “Embodiment” is a set of photographs and videos, that are interpretations of grace emanating from the Self within the Self. The dancers represent allegories of a state of being. In Japanese, ‘hara’ symbolizes the physical and spiritual center of a person and is located right under the navel. “Embodiment” is a focus on the primitive, creative and eternal Self within the Self from where the transformation of my work comes to being in paint, canvas and a camera.
